film pundits see this pairing as an opportunity to make Bond "more relevant" to the 2018 audience.

how would you make Bond "more relevant" without compromising the basic tenets of Fleming's characterisation?

Think the Film will be called 'RISICO'. 'Dr.No' was the first in 1963.
More mature and action packed which audiences want. He is an experienced Director, but it will be 2019 before it gets released

Dr NO is 1962. Well I for one am glad Mendes has gone, total disaster he was. The best way to direct Bond is not to try and be different. The "rules" are very clear and unambiguous, stick to them. The guvnors at directing for Bond, are Wilson or Glen but I have faith that Boyle will do a good job. I remember all the anti British naysayers pre dissing the Olympic opening ceremony in 2012, but it turned out to be the best in history, so let's see eh?
"The name is Bond ... Jane Bond ... licensed to self identify"
Danny Boyle is a genius. I auditioned for 'Trust 'some episodes of which he directed and was entirely gutted not to get it. At least he'll make Bond more accessible to people I think, as there is quite a millenial swathe that Bond leaves really cold (I'm one of them- but then I don't like Daniel Craig).
The first film I ever saw at the cinema was The Man with the Golden Gun.
I’m afraid it’s been downhill for me with James Bond ever since - and I’m more second than third millennium ;-)
