But what a performance it was. We set off at 9.30 am. Had a good run down. Stopped at our favourite hypermarket a few miles from Calais to stock up on wine. Set satnav for the ferry. It took us to an area of Calais we hadn't been to before. There was an entrance to the ferry but it was closed, had a barrier across saying route barred. We hadn't a clue where we were, drove round for ages but satnav kept leading us back there. In desperation we set satnav for the town where we shopped. From there we got on the motorway and found the ferry ok. Our ferry was due 15.20. We got there at 14.00 so hoped to get on 14.20 one. Oh no said lady at kiosk. All ferries are delayed, next one is at
16.20.So we had to sit there for nearly 2.5 hours. Eventually had a good crossing. Good trip up the M25. Got to A419 Cirencester. Road closed. We tried to follow diversions but got hopelessly lost for a long time. Eventually set satnav for Chepstow and managed to get on M4. Things OK after that. We eventually got home 21.30. It had been a long 12 hour journey home.
We were shattered. So glad to be home but had a great time.
