(Not sure where to post this). Does anyone know how to access the free knitting patterns on Pinterest? I'm looking for a Father Christmas one and have found umpteen patterns and have pinned them to my board but I'm blowed if I can find the actual pattern to download. What do I have to do?

The actual patterns aren't on Pinterest. You need to visit the relevant site where they're hosted.

Carry out your search as usual and then hover your mouse over an image that interests you. You'll see a link to a website appear near to the bottom of the image. (e.g. 'ravelry.com' or 'loveknitting.com').

Then, instead of clicking on the actual image, click on that link. You'll then be taken to the actual site where the image is hosted. (Annoyingly though, you might then find that, despite the fact you included 'free' in your search string', you actually have to pay to download the pattern).
PS: If you're looking at your own board, or you've searched in a different manner, you might find that (instead of the link produced by 'hovering, that I've referred to above) there's a box labelled 'Visit' instead. Fairly obviously that's what you'd then need to use. (Just keep in mind that you're trying to get away from the Pinterest site, to reach the actual location of the pattern, and it should all be straightforward from then on).

Thanks, Buenchico. That's more or less what I've been doing although I've never come across the magic word 'Visit'. I sometimes think I have a computer from a different planet.
So far I've found free patterns for a snowman and a Christmas pud so that'll have to do me for now!

P.S. ... and, yes, I know it's boiling hot and only August !
The absolute favourite Father Christmas I have ever made is in this collection, not free sadly but a joy to knit and is always well received.

Thanks, Mamyalynne. I have now found the first one you sent or I might even get the Jean Greenhow one, even if it does cost money!!
Her patterns are clear and a joy to work with, hope you get sorted.
