There are three words in the English language that end in "gry".
ONE is angry and the other is hungry. Everyone knows what the third
ONE
means and what it stands for. Everyone uses them everyday, and if
you
listened very carefully, I've given you the third word.
What is it? _______gry?

It's a fairly old chestnut. There are three words in "the English language" ... what is the third word? You are meant to ignore everything in between. I was never that impressed by it.

Your wording of the question is wrong - it should have a sentence that just reads: There are three words in the English language. Then the answer's valid - if extremely disappointing!
Pies, this riddle has been around for twenty years or more and it doesn't make sense because it is always asked incorrectly, the original riddle was this:

"Think of words ending in -GRY. Angry and hungry are two of them.

There are only three words in THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE.

What is the third word? The word is something that everyone uses every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is."

Totally agree with pldcav, Quizmonkey and coyn, in that they've identified the correct format of the riddle, but I did a search for -gry words anyway, and I turned up aggry (descriptive of some African beads), puggry (a light scarf to protect your head from the sun), and unangry (not being angry).

Depends on your choice of dictionary, of course.
