was it free... a misunderstanding, or the apps fault.

No...the app isn’t self-aware. It cannot purchase food indepe...

Oh...you’re joking.

I hope.
The fact that the staff, on two occasions, did not treat his complaint seriously did not leave him with many other options other that to report it to the police.Had the staff been more amenable that would probably been the end of the matter.
if it was a mistake, all employees who serve must be clocked when and where, who they served etc, if it was deliberate..then they should be sacked..because if they served say something with peanuts to someone with an allergy could= death
Welcome to Corbynista Britain, where an innocent mistake gets some poor worker fired. Was thinking for voting for Labour. Not now.

Good point fender62.

Never thought of that.
and i might add never to be given a job in the catering or service industry where serving or preparation is involved.
ynna, Where is the evidence that this was a mistake?

A) Are you sure it was an honest mistake?
B) Corbynista Britain - what???
It's clear that this app and the anonymity it provides can be used for good as well as ill will.

I'd like to think I could put it down to the ignorance and stupidity of the person who sent it and simply laugh it off,but I cannot as I can't come from the perspective of a black person.
He is certainly justified in complaining about the stranger who sent it. Not so much with the company. It seems they got a valid order requested? And are unlikely to walk up to customers, just because they are black... saying "did you want a banana?".
The app needs more care.
this is a very serious thing imho, food preparation and service, its about trust, is it not..if the person who did this, thinks its funny, then what else is funny to them, just how far would they go.
Both of you know what i mean.An innocent mistake...
It wasn't a member of staff, though, fender.
pixie374, so some other patron dumped it on his plate.
It says in the link that they take (anonymous) orders, and that a stranger ordered it to their table.
if i seem overeactive im thinking of allergies, and god knows what else
could be served by a cretin, as it's funny- to them.

I find it very unlikely that it could’ve been an innocent mistake. I have been to Weatherspoons pubs, and I have eaten in many pubs and gastropubs with friends.

I have never once seen anyone order a banana for themselves.

Or order a banana for themselves and accidentally send it to the wrong table.

I don’t think the argument is with Weatherspoons - however, it would’ve been pretty easy to trace who had made the order via the app, and sort it out that way.
//Wetherspoon allows its customers to order food and drinks to tables using numbers on an app, meaning you can send items anywhere unidentified.//

I doubt it was an accident. My guess is a racist stranger who thought it might be funny... but nothing to do with Wetherspoons. Whether they can identify who actually made the order- I don't know. But "unidentified" suggests they don't know. Which is why I think the app needs more care.
Fender, the people serving are doing as asked. It's the brain donors making anonymous orders, that are the problem.
