My mate Jim next door, 80 in July. Wife almost bedridden with various ailments.
She rang yesterday PM asking if we had any burn cream, Jim had burnt himself.

Went in with some savlon and , my goodness, he had somehow set his shirt on fire, she had ripped it off and he was sat there in great pain and shellshocked.

Rang 111 , he was told to have a cold shower and paramedics would come. Twenty mins later he was taken by ambulance to local hospital and later transferred to Wythenshawe burns unit.

This could be a long job. Just got his wife credit for her phone . Luckily she rings in to Spar for food deliveries.

She has not been out for over three years, very frail. I shall have to keep checking on her as well as a few other 80 year olds round here.

I feel quite young approaching 75.

Always someone worse of than youself.

That is shocking ponkle. Terrible days.

I know we should not go into neighbours homes but I had to yesterday
Well done for being so hepful Sparky. I hope there is a good outcome.

And ponkle is that is awful. You must feel dreadful.
That's horrible sparkly, thank goodness you were there. Would it be an idea to call their GP to try and get some extra help for the wife?
Yes, Sparkly you were right in going to their rescue. Sometimes we have to take chances.

She is OK at the moment. Has all she needs and knows we are next door.

I agree with Aunt Polly. The it GP or Social Services need to know. His wife is very vulnerable.
Oh dear ponkle how awful. Good on you SK.
Not to make light of previous comments here but it does make mine seem trivial. The lovely cockerel whose cheerful crowing has delighted us every morning, is silent today. The silence is so loud!!

I shall check on her 3 or 4 times daily. She is very alert and seems to be coping well.

As long as she has all she needs I shall monitor the situation daily.

At the moment I cannot see any additional help being beneficial.

Thanks for suggestions regarding GP and social services.
Have they any family, SK?

He fell twice last week. I picked him up once, a neighbour the second time.

As he went off in the ambulance he asked if I would look after Lillian, glad to I replied.
Good work Sparky. They're lucky to have you as a neighbour.
