Doggy Question

My son has just got a lovely puppy. 10 weeks old. My son has parquet floors and I suggested he puts doggy booties on her, but he is a bit worried they may stunt the growth of her paws as with the ancient chines ladies, Lotus Feet. Obviously we would get the appropiate size, but they are soft like socks, not solid. What is your opinions ?

Wouldn't the socks make the dog slip even more? I'm with shoota. The dog will soon learn how to control it's paws on the parquet floor.

We put washable rugs down so that our dog wouldn't slip on wooden floors. I wouldn't cover a dog's paws.

Did he not think of this before getting the dog? obvs not! slips on shiny floors can be nasty for a dog of any age but particularly bad for puppies and the oldies. This place sells bundles of cotton tuft mats with rubber backs that can be laid temporarily and gardually removed as the dog grows up. I put these down on the conservatory floor (tiled) for mine. They aren't pretty but they are cheap enough to be discarded when the need for them is past. great for absorbing water when pups comes in soaking wet.

I have wood flooring and unless Lola’s having a mad half hour , she’s perfectly fine with it

mine were fine as adults Bobbi, but we covered the kitchen floor when they were pups...sadly after Rab did a bambi and hurt his shoulder. He's had problems with it throughout his life so lesson learned. Shughy, who died recently became unsteady on his feet as he got old and again I covered the slippery bits of floor.

i had no idea they were on ebay shoota, been buying off them for years. I used a couple of bundles of their black kennel quality to make footpaths around my garden over the swamp muddy dog racetracks. They have been down for around 6 years now and still in excellent nick.

I've seen doggy booties used for greyhounds and whippets...but that's often because they are prone to corns...and very cold sensitive. Indoors, non slip mats seems a better option.
