Getting rid of name

Can any of one tell me how to get rid of my full name that comes up infrontof my e-mail address i just want maybe first name, or nicname, but not surname to show up.

In laymens terms please, i use Yahoo to send e-mails, also Microsoft outlook. T.U.

Not sure with Yahoo if you can- Ive just checked and whatever name I signed up with shows in the e-mails I send.

Under Outlook Express (not sure if its the same under outlook) you alter what you want to appear by going into the following

Tools>accounts>properties (under USER INFORMATION)
You can then choose what you want to appear as name of sender

In Yahoo -sure

While looking at your list of mail, click on Options tab at top right. Then select General Preferences

General Preferences
Customize your Inbox view and your Compose options. Change your outgoing name and address or manage your email addresses.

Then you'll see

From name:
This name will appear on the From line of outgoing mail.

There you go. Remember to click on SAVE button at the very foot of that page for the change to take effect

hi just read this .I put this question up long time ago and still waiting for an answer now someone has very kindly solved my problem now can you please tell me can it be done on hotmail too would be most grateful if it can thanks to loocfox for question and thanks pinotage for that answer

hi i think i have found it same procedure as yahoo under personal options am i right ?
