Dedicate?

Advocate, educator, elocution and vocation all all nouns (although, of course, advocate can be a verb too). Dedicate is the only one that isn't.

(Just a guess!)
I was thinking on exactly the same lines, but as you say, Advocate was the sticking point for me.
They say that great minds think alike, Jackdaw33 - but they're probably wrong ;-)

I hate these type of questions because there are usually lots of responses that can be considered 'right' but only one that the setter will actually accept as being the desired answer!

My fours cats have pointed out that there are also four cats in the question, with 'elocution' being the only word which doesn't include a 'cat' ;-)
I too loathe this type of question for the same reason. However I think your *** may have hit the nail on the head.
I used the plural of the Mrs Slocombe word for cats, hence the asterisks. How silly!
. . . and then again, 'dedicate' is the only word in the list which doesn't have the letter 'o' in it.
;-)

...and Advocate is the only word which has two pronunciations depending whether it's used as a verb or a noun.
