Could I have some hints please as now absolutely stuck!
No 83. Emerging from second entry the dogs were very fast movers (5,10)
I have the second word as the dogs but cannot parse the first word. Also the type of boat is also 5,10 so not sure if that is the answer
No 11 Competent in dallying but held rank of petty officer (6)
No52 The captain is found in a sleeping place for vagrants (7)
No 63 After last orders grasping, greedy women become cheats (8)
Thank you
52. The captain is found in a sleeping place for vagrants (7)
I know that skipper is another name for captain (and that kip is a sleep) but where is the connection to vagrants - this looks as if the answer should be in the plural which skipper isn't.
23. Fall down and get up(3,3,3) the three words I have start with H,T,D. Could anyone confirm?
Jenniferd - if you look in Chambers you will see you will see that as well as being a definition for captain, it is also a barn etc for vagrants. Must admit I didn't know until doing this quiz.
My answer for 23 relates to the tide.
Thanks Sweetpea6. I have found the skipper definition in Chambers. Learn something every day but remembering it........
23. Fall down and get up(3,3,3). I had an answer Hit The Deck but couldn't see where the "get up". Is it something to do with the ebb tide? You said the answer relates to the tide.
Hi Mamyalynne.
23. Is it as simple as "Ebb and Flow" ?
84. Craft topless musical entertainment (5) Original answer I had was Ketch. Now the clue is a (1966) 7 letter musical minus the 1st 2 letters. Found Camelot and Chicago but the 5 remaining make no sense.
