Could I have some hints please as now absolutely stuck!
No 83. Emerging from second entry the dogs were very fast movers (5,10)
I have the second word as the dogs but cannot parse the first word. Also the type of boat is also 5,10 so not sure if that is the answer
No 11 Competent in dallying but held rank of petty officer (6)
No52 The captain is found in a sleeping place for vagrants (7)
No 63 After last orders grasping, greedy women become cheats (8)
Thank you
Many apologies for giving incorrect possible answer but I had no idea that HTD meant both fall down and get up. I have only used it for fall down. I do admire the compiler's knowledge of words and his skill in formulating teasing clues.
Thanks.
84. For want of a better suggestion I will stick with "ketch" as the answer. Especially as I've checked Chambers and see like Sweetpea6 has that a "sketch" is musical entertainment.
If I follow the previous leads the musical is Cabaret which leads to Baret, the first woman to circumnavigate the seas. The clue says craft so I am still swaying towards Ousel. Not sure whether a sketch is musical entertainment.
23. My mistake (getting confused) - it's 3,3,4.
84. Chambers defines "sketch" as musical entertainment. I found the Baret person as the first female circumnavigator of the world. Haven't found anywhere that "ousel" is a boat.
Ouzel ship built on Tyneside 1901 ( what you learn from these quizzes!). Think I will stick to sketch as previously said usually only one letter removed.
