Labour run Croydon council has gone but for £1.5b.. yes billion, this includes £200m to social housing business that allegedly built 3 homes.

looks like they tried to take property development in-house and it didn't work. Northants council (Tories in that case) outsourced everything and that didn't work either; they also went bust. Short answer: they were both struggling to make limited budgets work.

The London Borough neighbours mine and I am not suprised it's gone bust. Every crime in the book ,regularly ,especially corruption I suspect. No doubt Khan will plead their case, with his begging bowl ,to Boris.

Perhaps the Govt should have given 12.5 billion to Croydon to run track and trace. It would have kept them afloat and the track and trace system would not be any less effective than it is now.

Croydon council couldn't organise a pee-up in a brewery. Numerous unaffordable housing developments and one of the highest council tax rates in the country. I pay just approx £120 pm and that's with the single person reduction.

All local authorities are incompetent and corrupt. Full of useless people shuffling paper around with a job for life and a nice fat pension at the end of it who make no contribution whatsoever to the nations wealth. They seem to think they exist for the benefit of the employees rather than to serve the people who pay the grotesque council tax.
