I was reading the thread on Catholicism....

ANYWAY.... I see you both have family in Sligo..... from a gigantic Westlife fan like wee Tinkerbell here I always planned to go there one day... see if I can spot any of the boys LOL (Nicky being my fave I think he is a Dublin boy I may be wrong!)

When I was 16/17 my friends met guys on holiday in Santa Ponsa .... we went to visit them.... IN MEATH!

Wow ... I loved it but Im not sure they knew what hit them when a bus full of Weegie girls turned up - i asked the Londis lady where the Mcdonalds was and she had a right good laugh!!

Ginge is from Cloonacool not far from Charlestown. They don't have a Londis. Spar and Centra and their local pub has a shop. Get steaming and buy you're drunken snacks :-)

I've only ever been to Meath once. Knobber....they have no bloody hotels! I went to my uncles funeral and had to drive back to Sligo so I couldn't even have a drink!!

Tinks. I don't know where we went wrong but many of my family in Sligo and Mayo are Guards.
Let me know when you plan to visit and I will warn them.... ;-)

Ummmm. Dave and I have some wonderful photos of pubs doubling as undertakers. The windows with the wreaths and Guinness adverts are fantastic!

Just waiting on one of you telling me you are related to Westloifff and setting me up really!!???

At the time... I had silver knee high boots and a denim skirt.

We didnt realise the type of place we were visiting!

We stayed above a pub and the rooms were ... strange LOL!!

The guys were lovely and they took us to their home and there was a cow grate- we didnt even know what a cow grate was!

A Londis, a baker, a fruit shop and a library.

A mens store, a womans store & a wedding store- all owned by Mcilhinney!!

I was wondering where the chinese was or the kebab shop and the locals just laughed LOL!!

We did find a club... and had the best weekend ever! The DJ played the proclaimers.... cos we are scottish ye know!!

Definately a few curtains twitching - the Lady in the Londis told me so!!

The garage sold only fuel! I was going for a midnight snack perhaps.... no chance!!

Amazing times!!!

We took the bus to Dublin and the ticket man knew our home town. Felt like such an adventure honestly- the simple life!

Saw a wedding- bride was in a tractor.
I would love to go back! X

And for someone who had a pretty strong catholic up bringing even we LOLd at the boys blessing themselves anytime we passed a chapel!!

Magners = Bulmers.... I drank waaaaaaaaaay too much of that tasty Irish bulmers LOL xxx

They still bless themselves when we go past a Catholic church in England. It's a habit. I've never taken my kids to mass. I sent them to Catholic schools though. They were all Christened in Ireland, no questions asked. In England they ask for a wedding certificate, which I don't have.

Stayed in a hotel in Kilkenny and our accommodation was down the other end of the street. Ducksie might know it, we drank in Doyles, also an undertaker. Gosh....the Irish love a good funeral.

Of course we do, Ummmm. I did MrG's funeral which was held in The Lighthouse in Kettering. It was a very Irish funeral for a very English man.

I've since had folk asking if I'd arrange their funerals. I will if they hang on until we can travel.

There was a cafe but i Swear to God it was acessed via the wedding store!!

We had no idea where we were going. The guys collected us from Dublin in the worlds oldest van ever.

What a laugh. Everyone was so kind I have to say!!! And the club was great!!!!

Smoking ban was in place then but it wasnt in Glasgow i recall x

I have to admit to being some of my drunkest at funerals!!

I blame 10am mass, no brekky.... then back for steak pie at 12 noon and start drinking!

Steaming for late noon and usually having a good time!!

Is that terrible! - i think emotions run high!!!!!!! X

I was in a pub in Tipp and they didn't even have a till. It was just money on a beer cloth. I would hate to be their accountant :-)

They also had (I don't know the word) attached where they shoe horses. You could open a door and they'd be a horse standing there.

Funerals are the best days out. celebration of life and a happy goodbye.

Ummm Dublin is my fave and honestly just a few years ago the pub we drank in had a pet budgie behind the bar.

Thats what i just adore about the whole place! Its a bit mental LOL xxx

I had the BEST cake of my life in the Guinness Factory.

Chocolate cake- never had one like it to this day! You are irish, you love Guinness.... make it happen lol xx
