I was reading the thread on Catholicism....
ANYWAY.... I see you both have family in Sligo..... from a gigantic Westlife fan like wee Tinkerbell here I always planned to go there one day... see if I can spot any of the boys LOL (Nicky being my fave I think he is a Dublin boy I may be wrong!)
When I was 16/17 my friends met guys on holiday in Santa Ponsa .... we went to visit them.... IN MEATH!
Wow ... I loved it but Im not sure they knew what hit them when a bus full of Weegie girls turned up - i asked the Londis lady where the Mcdonalds was and she had a right good laugh!!

I've only ever been to Meath once. Knobber....they have no bloody hotels! I went to my uncles funeral and had to drive back to Sligo so I couldn't even have a drink!!

At the time... I had silver knee high boots and a denim skirt.
We didnt realise the type of place we were visiting!
We stayed above a pub and the rooms were ... strange LOL!!
The guys were lovely and they took us to their home and there was a cow grate- we didnt even know what a cow grate was!
A Londis, a baker, a fruit shop and a library.
A mens store, a womans store & a wedding store- all owned by Mcilhinney!!
I was wondering where the chinese was or the kebab shop and the locals just laughed LOL!!
We did find a club... and had the best weekend ever! The DJ played the proclaimers.... cos we are scottish ye know!!
Definately a few curtains twitching - the Lady in the Londis told me so!!
The garage sold only fuel! I was going for a midnight snack perhaps.... no chance!!
Amazing times!!!
We took the bus to Dublin and the ticket man knew our home town. Felt like such an adventure honestly- the simple life!
Saw a wedding- bride was in a tractor.
I would love to go back! X

They still bless themselves when we go past a Catholic church in England. It's a habit. I've never taken my kids to mass. I sent them to Catholic schools though. They were all Christened in Ireland, no questions asked. In England they ask for a wedding certificate, which I don't have.

We had no idea where we were going. The guys collected us from Dublin in the worlds oldest van ever.
What a laugh. Everyone was so kind I have to say!!! And the club was great!!!!
