I was thinking whether it was the phil Collins version. If so what would the andrew lloyd webber and tim rice musical be which debuted in the west end that year. Please

It peaked in the charts in mid January 1966 so am pretty sure it was released in late 1965.

If they meant a later version it would be odd for the question to mention the Mindbenders tho as its not as if they wrote it, that was Carole Bayer Sager and someone else sang it before the Mindbenders. also others released it later too.

The Mindbenders also re-released the single in 1969 but no Lloyd Webber Tim Rice musical debutted in the West End in 1969 either.

right so question dosn't mention the Mindbenders so could be Phil Collins one from circa 1988 . You just need to look at list of looyd webber shows
