Does anyone think that the highlighted squares in this puzzle are wrong.
Having answered all the clues correctly I think, I am left with I C E S G R.
my answers were:-
4d. Large body of troops (7) BRIGADE (I)
10a Conjecture (9) SPECULATE (C)
12a Phantom (7) SPECTRE (E)
22a Daffodil genus (9) NARCISSUS (S)
18d Peculiar (STRANGE) (G)
25a Staying power (ENDURANCE) (R)
Many thanks
Welcome. I suspect the setter might have been going for "cigars" if only 1 letter was wrong. Having said that, they can treat it as a plain crossword this week ;)
231047 here,
I agree it could be a setter's error. However, there is a possibility that the letters are an anagram. There is a word, GRICES, which I found on my crossword solver. I have looked on my Concise Oxford but there is no mention there. I have not had a chance to look anywhere else. Perhaps somebody could look on the internet and advise?
