With most of these events, there's always the excuse of "It's for charity!" but Clacton is different. There's no formal organisation and no 'good cause' to do it for. People simply turn up at 10 o'clock on Christmas morning and run into the sea because they want to! In my opinion, they're all totally bonkers but it's still fun to watch them freezing their bits off anyway ;-)
