Daily Mail readers are again subjected to two pages of journalist Samantha Brick confirming that she is 'still beautiful' ten years on from her original piece, and that women will envy her even more.

Now I have no problem with Ms Brick's assessment of herself, and I agree that the level of hostility she received as a result is unacceptable.

But what stuck in my mind from her original piece ten years ago, was her assertion that on occasion, waiters have been so dazzled by her allure, that they have paid for a meal they have served to her in a restaurant.

Ms Brick lives in France, maybe that happens there, but i honestly cannot see such an event occurring in a British restaurant.

I remember at the time asking a colleague of mine, who literally stopped traffic in the street outside when she crossed the road, and was universally acknowledged as the most stunning woman in the five storey building, if a waiter had ever paid for her, and she confirmed it had never happened.

I was with a similarly beautiful friend once when a complete stranger stopped her in the street and gave her a bunch of flowers and a note with his number on, and she also confirmed that no waiter had ever paid for a meal for her.

I admire Ms Brick's self-confidence, but wonder at her apparent need to place herself in the social media firing line for her personal self-aggrandisement, which clearly does not chime with the reading public.

And given my exchanges with ladies whom the majority of any group of people asked, would confirm their high level of physical attraction, i do wonder about the veracity of Ms Brick's claim for free meals from adoring young men.

Have any of the AB ladies had a tab settled for them by a waiter?

And what do they think of Ms Brick's assessment of herself?

No, never had a tab settled and don’t know of anyone who has. Also seriously doubt any waiter, anywhere, would, for anyone.
I think she’s averagely attractive, wouldn’t call her pretty, no way is she beautiful, I do wonder why she promotes herself as such. I honestly believe she possibly has some sort of body dysmorphia or psychological problem, she seems to see herself in a totally different way to the way the rest of the world do.
there is a word for women who use their bodies and looks to get men to pay for them ...

To be fair, Ms Brick never advised that she tried to get waiters to pay for meals she ordered, she inferred that they were so entranced with her, that they volunteered to do so.

Given how hard waiting staff work, and how little they are paid for it, I think it would have to be someone of considerably more charisma than Ms Brick to inspire any waiter to act thus.

fallen woman - er is there another? - the sign ( BSL ) is two fingers down rt cheek. ( index finger only means make-up and indicates leddy. Two fingers - thick make up, a leddy who sells her kisses in return for money. This is a family site)

This is wish-fulfillment innit? - taken up by a journo. Oop north where I live, they are paid diddly squat ( waiters )
she is that rare woman - imo she looks better now than she did 10 years ago
Just imagine having a relationship with someone with an ego like that. It would be even worse than being with the desperately needy, me-me -me Liz Jones, who has been chronicling for many years in the MoS You Magazine how the world doesn't appreciate her wonderful attributes.
"she inferred that they were so entranced with her, that they volunteered to do so."

She might imply something but it would be you, as the reader, who infers a meaning.
I've never heard of her, I think she's attractive, and she's right about internet trolling.

And I've had free meals, as no doubt you have; just not because of my beauty.

Jno - Yes I've had free meals, and definitely not because of my beauty!!

But I still question whether any waiter would pay for the meal of any customer, however attractive she may be.

It doesn't ring true at all.

Unless French waiters are different - ?
//And I've had free meals, as no doubt you have; just not because of my beauty.//

Climbing out of the restaurant toilet's window doesn't count as a free meal jno.
if she gets free meals you'd think she would be fatter!
They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There must be quite a few waiters needing an appointment at Specsavers. IMHO, of course:-J

I know I'm labouring the point, but it bugged me when I read it ten years ago, and it still bugs me now.

Let's assume, for the sake of argument, that there are are one or more waiters who are seriously smitten with the allure of Ms Brick as a customer they have served.

Why in the name of sanity, would that induce them to pay for her meal, when surely the natural reaction would be to engage her in conversation with a view to getting her to return, or maybe even divulge her phone number?

Surely that is more likely a reaction than "That woman is so gorgeous | have just got to pay her bill for her ..."

It just doesn't appear feasible, and I think it's part of her fantasy view she has of how men see her.
