TTT - Apart from your rather unpleasant analogy, it bears remembering that for millions of Americans, the duchess is a bona fide 'royal' person, so they hang on her every word.

Of course, most Brits have more of a sense of proportion about these things, but that does not mean that what Mrs Windsor says is ignored by everyone - it's not, more's the pity.
