Wassailing
alter mec = ismail merchant

Actually Wassailing does not mean carolling, this is something the Americans have started by changing the carol "Here we come a wassailing" to "Here we come a carolling". Wassail was a bowl of foaming beer passed round while sitting in front of a fire containing the Yule Log.

Nowadays, wassail could mean a mulled wine given to carol groups (mainly in villages nowadays) or friends when they come round at Christmas - but carolling, never!!

It is still the answer to the question thoug, even if it is wrong.

Merry Christmas
