Owning golliwogs is not illegal so it can only be because they caused offence. What a complete waste of time, effort and resources. Whoever complained needs to get a grip.
Perhaps the publican arranged for someone to complain. He couldn't pay for all the publicity his bar has received and as he knows his customers he also knows it will do him no harm.
Having been the recipient of a CAMRA award, Sandy, i wouldn't think the pub needed much publicity. And, if the ale's as good as it's made out to be, i don't think it'll be losing many customers over this farce.

I loved my Golly - and my Golly brooches. If someone is offended by them - well, I'm sorry, but please curb your enthusiasm. There are many more real things to be offended about - modern slavery for instance?
P.S. I still have an old Enid Blyton story-book in which the Gollies are the heroes, so they were not denigrated.
