could I ask a question. As you can see I'm new to this board and have always just dabbled with crosswords...but since I've been coming here I have been taking them a lost more seriously and have, for the first time sent 3 prize crossword in this weekend.....do any of you win much?

Oh and one last question I cannot for the life of me do cryptic crossword...does this mean that I am totally thick?

maizie, I'm sure all winners of Q&P are far too modest to admit the fact, but don't worry about cryptic crosswords, you will manage these as you carry on trying to solve them. You don't have to be the Brain of Britain, just keep trying and keep watching these pages; you'll surprise yourself. Best of luck.

I agree with geo0939. Somebody has to win and there is no reason why, long odds or not, that it should not be you. Cryptic crosswords do take a little bit of getting used to but if you buy a paper that has them (and it looks like you do) have a go and you may well pick it up gradually (watching for or getting answers from people here will help). But even if you never do get used to them, let no-one ever tell you you are thick!

thanks for your kind resonses, but I do doubt it, we have a lot of papers over the week-end and 3 on a daily basis. Every day I sit and stare at them...and nothing....the next day I look at the answers and think,how the hell did that happen, whats that all about....I fear I am a lost cause,never mind I love the factual crosswords and I love this site :o)
