I keep reading about escape rooms and wonder, if any ABers have done one, are they fun, good value for money?

Today I came across an 'outdoor one' called Solve the City which is available in various locations like York, Bath and London which seems to have good reviews but what it entails seems a bit vague.  Any first-hand experiences?

I was locked in the bathroom once - it wasn't much fun😳

The idea beind escape rooms is solid, but I would have thought that it could be played remotely.

My friend went on one - she enjoyed it but couldn't see what the hype was about.

I have also been locked in a bathroom. A bit scary as I had food boiling on the hob and thought I was going to be burned t

to death.
Sorry I don't know about escape rooms, but I do like the computer based ones

My daughters used to do a few escape rooms - quite often people booked them for a small group for a birthday 'something to  do' before heading for a meal.  They both enjoyed them.  They were York-based.

I've never been in an escape room, but I know several people who have (mostly younger people) and they have all enjoyed it.  I would have thought that many AnswerBank puzzlers would enjoy the challenge.  And, for those ABers who spend their time in the News category, some escape rooms also provide rage rooms:

My sister once locked me in the shed - I kicked the window out to escape. She got into trouble! ðŸ˜‚

As children we used to sing a song I'd completely forgotton about until this thread reminded me:

Oh dear what can the matter be/

Two old ladies locked in the lavatory/

They've been there from Monday to Saturday/

Nobody knew they were there.

I did an escape room with the family just before Covid. It was a great experience. I would highly recommend.

I have seen the outdoor one and will do one in the summer when my daughter is back from uni.

Yes did a Philips fogg one in Dubai and we gained by a couple of minutes. In ibiza did a Sherlock holmes one and we bear the clock just! But having to crawl through a fireplace at age 78 isn't recommended!

I did type philias but phone didn't like it!

I quite like the idea of the outdoor ones, which seem a bit like treasure hunts, but the one I mentioned charges £19 per person, which seems a bit steep just to download an app with clues.

I have done one with my wife and some family members.

We really enjoyed it, it was cleverly done, with the outside adjudicator offering advice via a screen to help us stay on track.

We escaped with one second left on the clock!

Great fun.

We did one in Paphos a few years ago, it was great fun and we only missed out by seconds, quite good  if you like problem solving

See if you can find out what the set up is as you probably could all use one app.
