69. Not what you'd call a ripe old age.

Shame. I got to like him in the end - he was very entertaining on chat shows and the like.

Really, Auntypoll, you don't say ... 😉

Bluster, Galloway was "entertaining" in an excrutiating kinda way but malevolent and twisted nonetheless.

I wonder what that horrible jumped-up disgrace of a former FM Sturgeon will have to say.

DD - Salmond had his dirty ways as well ( acquitted of harassment and as everyone knows, far too many have really done and are wrongly acquitted)

Free buses, free scrips, free this and that

Just seen this on the ITV News....I graduated the same day as Alec did...he had a 2-2 in Economics.

Just e-mailed a fellow grad that at least the stunning, beautiful 'Wee Marys' of Scotland will sleep better in their beds tonight. A fan of his politics from Int'l Socialism to SNP, I was not.

Tried more than anybody to push the case for Scottish independence. Shame he hever got to see his ambition

Maybe you should all read the tributes being paid by Starmer, John Swinney, Nicola Sturgeon etc etc.  Yes, he had feet of clay as do most of us, but he worked tirelessly for Scotland.  RIP Alex, your fight is over but the battle goes on.

"but the battle goes on"...whit battle is this Maggie. You nationalist, separatists dont get it do you.Indy is deid, get used to it.

I agree that he had Scotland's interest at heart, but that horrible poison dwarf didn't.

I can't believe some folk still feel it necessary to slag him off at such a sad time for his family and friends. It just shows the calibre of some Abers.

It's a ripe old age for a long-term obese Scotsman.

You'd have thought he might have taken some of the nannying messages dished out to the proles to heart but alas, too late now.
