Someone inappropriate for the office will triumph.

ha1 my predictions for the UK election were way off,and i actually cared (a ittle bit) about that.  This is just like asking me if i can who is going to win the elections in sierra leone

In a day or two Trump will appear on television and say:  The people have spoken, the bas*#***.

There's a US Presidential election? Has anyone mentioned this to the BBC as they don't seem to be giving it much coverage.

Donald Trump, methinks.

Donald Trump will declare himself the winner.......whatever the truth of the matter.

What are the polls saying ?

I think Donald Trump will win. A great pity if he does, he will be like Keir Starmer,  holding a position he's totally unsuitable for.

vulcan, if you think he's unsuitable, what on earth is Harris?

He may not be the best person in the US for the job, but with Trump we know what we're getting, - he's done it before and made a good job of it, if you think he didn't, tell me why, (not his personality traits please).

Let's hope there's no problem with the chads

i think harris will win comfortably and trump will refuse to concede. his supporters will get violent and do something horrible like they did last time

Trump will win. It seems 50% of Americans are stupid. He will edge it. I hope I'm wrong.

Well, if the tiny town of Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, is anything to go by, it's gonna be one helluva tight squeeze. The results are in for Dixville Notch and the votes of 6 people have been counted and, yep, you've guessed it, 3 were for Trump and 3 for Harris. Only in America😊

I think it will be very close.  What I find both alarming and amusing though is that with a population of over 300m, the best the US could come up with were Trump and Harris.

You can be sure thet Trump will announce that he's won, even before the polls have closed in the western states.  If Harris does squeak home, be prepared for endless 'it was stolen' cries from Trump supporters and untold litigation.

Yeah. My prediction is that everyone will lose. First the American citizens, then the rest of the world.

I honestly don't know which way it will go.  I heard some pundit sying fewer than about 550 votes will decide it!

I honestly don't know which will be worst for the world and the USA.  Each is dangerous in their own way.  At least Trump is a known variable.

Possibly Trump will edge it if it is down to margins like that - small areas  will matter more than block city votes.  Wait and see.

Just to add to my earlier post, it was a 100% turnout of registered voters in Dixville Notch. Wonder how they get along with each other in that tiny little village?

"What I find both alarming and amusing though is that with a population of over 300m, the best the US could come up with were Trump and Harris."

But exactly the same can be said of the UK, BM.

There was a chap on last week's Question Time (of which, unusually, I caught a few minutes). He said he did not understand how, in a country of 65m people, we always seem to end up with economically illiterate people in government.

He's absolutely right and their illiteracy does not end with economics. For the last thirty years or more we have been governed in the main by people who don't have a bloody clue what the UK electorate wants and even less idea how to provide it. Instead they mouth platitudes which they hope will keep us quiet whilst they complete their stint in government and move on to something else.

I find that neither alarming nor amusing. It's simply depressing.

I am sure the Democrats have made sure they will win.

As per BM above, out of 300m people.....
