Has your father, husband, ex, brother etc ever done something so special it has made you very aware in an instant, what a great Dad they are?

My elder daughter (aged 9) has had a difficult week at school. Another girl has been making fun of her titian coloured hair and although not too serious, it has put me on tantrum alert all week.

I told her father what was happening over the phone on Wednesday and he arrived today to collect the girls for the weekend, sat her on his knee and sang an a cappella version of Christina Aguilerra's, 'Beautiful' to her.

I think it's one of the loveliest moments of my life and I'm grizzling with happiness as I type.

Just realise I should have placed this under parenting, but I'm too tearful to think straight. Sorry!

i remember ringing dad up fairly late one night having just moved into my new flat. i'd decided to pull off all of the skirting boards as I wanted OG ones. I'd pulled off most of the plaster too, so dad came round and helped me get rid of the mess and then spent all weekend with me putting on the new ones and hanging new doors(yep i'd taken them off too) and dear mum came round too, to plaster the hall and hang the lining paper. They also took me to Sweden after I'd been in a horrific fire to help me recover.......

I Love You Mum and Dad xxxxxxxxx

My dad died 10 months before I was born.

RIP daddy.

Nice one WM. At least I'm giggling now.
My dad died over thirty years and he was a lovely man I have three brothers and when we moved back to Norfolk in 2004 my middle brother of the three who lives nearby was an absolute star. He came round and did all sorts of DIY stuff for us and was there with the tea and the kettle after our long trek from London. Plus he let me sob on his shoulder when I was homesick for London !! He's like my dad all over again to me and I don't know what I would do without him.

Nice one Drusilla. I never had a loving upbringing from my parents.....it was never bad and i never wanted for anything but my parents never told me they love me or ever hugged me or gave me much encouragement.

So, i vowed never to do that with my daughter. She's 7 now and i worship the ground she walks on. I phone her every morning and tell her i love her and she phones me later on and tells me she loves me.....and that brings a big lump to my throat.

Talk about a proper daddies girl !!!

My dad raised me and my two brothers as a single parent, and I have to say he was, and still is amazing. We live 300 miles apart now but are still as close as ever!

Drusilla - that was lovely -i've got wee tears in my eyes- such a sentimentalist!

My dad just cuddles me when things go wrong even although I'm his eldest. My brother has dropped everything, when I was going through an extremely awful time in my life, and would drive 30 miles and sit and talk to me until 7 in the morning.I am so lucky to have my boys in my life!!They would do anything for me although at times I can be a challenge:)

WMs dad was a turkey baster!!

hey, i know im a bit late in replying but hey ho.

My dad is 50, both his parents are dead, his mum died when he was 21. Last year, a guy i had been friends with since we were toddlers killed himself. I was devastated, it was really difficult for me to deal with. I got two days off work compassionate leave and the first day i cried all day.

That night i asked my dad if i could go to work with him the next day because i didnt want to be alone. In the morning he woke me up with tea and toast and told me to get ready and wear something warm. We got in the car and he said "we're not going to work, i swapped my shift" and he took me a long drive up past Loch Lomond and up to Oban.

We had a really nice day and had lunch and dinner out. It was just what i needed to get things in perspective.

He's done some pretty bad things in his time as a dad but i will be forever grateful to him for that day.
