Great apologies for not highlighting your earlier input. My only defence is that I spelling bee's answer was still on my first page when I responded.
We really do need a simple method that will identify whether a question has been answered already to prevent duplication - and I freely accept I have committed exactly that faux pas in the past..
Any suggestions?
G K Fanatic,
If duplication was a relatively rare issue I would agree wholeheartedly that looking for a solution to it could be construed as 'a big fuss' but put it in perspective from today's answers on the Herculis crossword.
Of the five clues for which assistance has been requested today 2d was asked 3 times, 16d asked twice and 27d asked 3 times.
The respondents giving the correct answer the first time - as Pega did this morning - could be justifiably irate if their contribution is not recognised.
That's why I took the opportunity to suggest that we need a 'better mousetrap' for those of us looking for help.
I don't have an issue with duplication after all variety is the spice of life and who is to say one thread is right?
However, as regards a better mousetrap howabout a standard Header?
i.e.
DT dd mm nn a/d
DT = Daily Telegraph
dd = date; 01 - 31
mm - month; Jan, Feb etc.
nn = clue number
a = accross, d = down.
