I'll never forget that nag, that day my mum gave me five bob as I was going out and said put me half a crown each way on Foinavon, and I went to the club for a few pints and a few games of snooker and completely forgot mums bet.

The s.o.b won at 100 to 1

I didn't dare tell mum I'd forgotten to put the bet on so I gave her what was then my weeks wages

That night when she was going out to spend her winnings she asked me why I wasn't getting ready to go out and I answered that I was skint so she kindly gave me �2 of her "winnings" to go for a drink. ******* Foinavon
