How do I use my comfrey plant for medicinal purposes?

My comfrey plant has gone out of control, and I would like to cut it back, but I also would like to use this plant in tinctures. Should I be using the root only or do the leaves/ stems/ flowers have a medicinal use, as well?

You can't ingest it as it 's toxic but it can be used in cream and as a topical preparation for relief of bruising etc.

You can soak the leaves of Comfrey and put them on bruised or sprained areas and bandage the area. Another name for this plant is an old fashioned one called knitbone. although they grow extremely well and take little looking after, when they flower, they look pretty as well.
