How many times do we have to put up with the incompetance of this newspaper? Complete lack of due care and attention. No excuse in this day and age. If there was a decent alternative to the Sat GK and Herculis I would switch. Does anyone feel the same frustration?.

Pangolin you must calm down. I enjoy my crosswords but no one is perfect and having spent 13 years as a newsagent I can tell you the publishers, all of them, don't care a hoot about anyone in the chain from wholesaler to retailer to customer as long as the sales figures look OK.

You answered your own question as we all still keep buying.
How much do these incompetent compilers earn.It is indicative of the country, run by educated idiots.I entirely agree with you Pangolin.
One consolation is that the chances of winning with the linkwords are as low as without them - a bit like the lottery really, and it saves a first class stamp!
the problem is that mepham has far too much on his plate and doesn't give sweet FA so long as his income rolls in. the same seems applicable for the telegraph crosswords editor, who appears well past her sell-by date.
Mepham will actually express embarrassment at the incompetence of the typesetter, who was probably sweltering at Canary Wharf and forgot to highlight the clues and shade the squares. It doesn't really matter, as I'm sure we all got the correct links.
Hopefully enough people will have sent in Herculis crossword with the link solutions so it will show them as we had the one set can work out the others and they should still consider this crossword for the prize as so say its null and void, I will wait and see what is said next monday and then complain to them
calm down .... because of the increased use of sites like this ..... minimising individual excellence (dumbing down) Mepham is now setting a new type of puzzle ..... you are not told which are the shaded squares, but have to work it out ///// well, you have the 4 shaded words from Saturday!!

Anyway, why attack Mepham / he gives many people hours of pleasure and is no way responsible for typesetting errors .....

I shall start a -support Mepham- website .....
Hear, hear!
Don't blame Mike, blame the crossword editor, or the typesetter on this occasion. When I emailed Mike a few weeks ago about double and sometimes triple choice answers, he apologised but said his clues should be checked out before going to print and that the Telegraph had reduced the time he is allowed to spend and his payment for so doing. I agree with a previous comment, let's all find a better Xword and stop moaning about this the Telegraph's. They keep putting the price of the papers up way above the rate of inflation and the prize money is less. We should all boycott the papers, although I doubt that we will, as they have become a way of life. There is a reasonable one in the Express on Mandays which gives a 1000 prize.
Cool it, chaps! My 92-year old brother does both the Saturday and Monday puzzles. without access to the Internet and without the help of Answerbank. His life would be very dull without them - and he usually finishes before I do.
My Mum reckons as the prize includes a Pen now they've prob. run out & so scuppered the Herculis !
