A lady I know entered the last contest that flooded this site with repetitive questions. The booklet (actually a full color 8 X 10 multi-page book) was obtained by her where she buys cigarettes. It's not avialable on line, according to her, but the fanatics who enter aere motivated by very large prizes. Unfortunately, the contest lasts for almost a year... Sigh!
The contest is mailed to Marlboro smokers that are subscribed to a incentive program, I confess I don't smoke em but the freebies are sometimes very nice, tickets to IRL races at least once a year. A friend got to take a ride in a trans am series car on the speedway courtesy of marlboro along with a buffet and goodie bags.
The contest is for teams of 4 to solve 100 questions and then proceed to a live event presumably involving some sort of treasure hunt with a million dollar prize.
You may be able to join through the Marlboro site and get the contest package mailed to you. I know the deadline for registration for the challenge is Nov 1, though the answers are not submitted at that time.
Good Luck to all that choose to take it up, I'd like to solicit Fibonacci as a team mate, the man's a natural.
Btw make sure you specify that you smoke Marlboros.

Here is how the contest works:
Invited participants form teams of four persons each. Each team works to solve 100 clues regarding the American West. The twenty teams with the most correct answers are awarded with a wonderful trip to the Marlboro Ranch. The one team with the most correct answers wins $1,000,000.
This is the third year of the contest and in the previous years, no one has correctly answered all 100 questions. I was one of the top twenty finalists last year and I can tell you that there is no treasure hunt. Once the twenty teams are selected, there is no more competition.
Just so you know, in order to be eligible you must be a US citizen age 21 or older AND a smoker. Also, I believe that the sign-up deadline has passed. If you have not already requested a registration packet, it may be too late.

Charlatan -- You are most welcome :-)
AB ED -- As for proving that you're a smoker, no there is nothing required. However, the winners will be at the ranch with contest officials - I would say that they should be prepared to smoke there unless they want to risk being disqualified.
Mbridge -- Yes, they are still mailing out contest books, but only to those who have already signed up for one. The deadline for that was June 30th. If you have not previously requested one, it is too late to do so now.
Juliefer -- Thank you. The million dollar winner is the one team with THE most correct answers. The teams that make it to the ranch are the top twenty correct answerers. The thing is, you don't know who won the million until you get there, but by then all the competing is finished. Last year they announced the winner after dinner on the first night at the ranch.

Dear ED ,
I wonder if you could e-mail all these people that are doing this quiz and ask them .
1) Put all their questions in one post .
2) Look and see if the same question hasn't been asked before .
I just had a look at the site this morning and there are 14 questions from 3 posters . That takes up most of the 1st. page .
Many thanks

Dear Ed
Going by the correspondence so far on this site, it sounds as if a lot of questions will posted about this competion for the next several weeks.
This is just a suggestion, and I realise no-one else may agree, but would it be possible to set up a temporary Marlboro category. Now Big Brother is coming to an end you'll have space for a new Hot Topic on the home page. If you haven't already got the space earmarked for anything else, perhaps it could become a temporary Marlboro category.
People just looking for answers to these particular questions could find then them more easily and could also help each other. More selfishly, it would also mean that the same questions wouldn't be repeated several times on this site.
Many thanks

juliefer - I completely agree with you but with the site being the size it is AB Ed will not have the time to read every post in every section and so may miss your post. Could I suggest you put a copy of your post in suggestions?
On a similar topic I suggested to the Ed that a subcategory or two was now needed urgently within Q and P i was told that it would not be put live until after substantial creative and technical work. (I am of the opinion that that is a load of bunkum but there it is). I do hope that a temporary marlboro category is possible as it does look like being needed doesn't it. Good luck.
