I'm also stuck on the other three you're asking about, jane, and another two:
Ability, detergent, hiding, opulent, police, station
Aplomb, foreboding, moan, redress, willow
Any help appreciated. Thanks.

6) Asuming the first word is meant to be ANiMal ...
The starting letter for the words Animal (A), Engine (E), Identity (I), Octagon (O), are all repeated once in the rest of the word.
This does NOT happened in the word Unicorn (i.e. the starting letter 'U' is not repeated.
So, UNICORN is the odd one out ? !!

Thanks everyone for all the great answers.
Jane, the answer to number 7 is Nelson - he was an admiral and the others were generals. Have a good holiday but ,before you go, could you (or any other kind person) help me with three of the anagrams please? The ones I'm stuck on are:
NO WORKS IN A TAN
END BRAIL STORY
WILL NEED A DAISY
They are all anagrams of 'entertainers in the broadest sense of the word'. If this helps, the other twelve I've found are actors/singers/presenters and are older people. Thanks very much.

Thanks jane. I've been thinking about question 9 and Swing could be the odd one out as it has one vowel whilst the others each have three.
Dinkypuzzled has suggested Foreboding is the odd one out in the Aplomb etc question as this has four vowels and the rest have two.
I'm embarrassed to ask for another anagram but I've realised I've gone wrong on one of the others so please could you help me with
BORN AS RAW BRAID
Many thanks.
