Not asking for answers, just confirmation on my word patterns for final three clues, as I am now going round in circles! ... I would be really grateful for confirmation only (or otherwise) of the following :-
7a M?S?S ?O?T
40a A???S ?O?P
30d D?M???A?T
Finally, I was confident of my answers for 9d and 15a but where they intersect I have "a" for 15a and "u" for 9d. Is there perhaps an alternative spelling for either answer, if so could somebody please point me in the right direction. Many thanks (S) ;o)

You certainly have been busy Ont-ice, Pantheon and slaney, but it does look as if there have been positive results. Yes, I did see your message on the MM links game Ont-ice ... we're now ready for battle next weekend!
Pleased to see answer for 30d, I was never happy with original suggestion ... I think we are just about there now?
cheers ;0)

I had doubts about demurrant, as this definition not quite right..
http://www.nolo.com/definition.cfm/Term/E9F6AD C5-1CEA-4A32-A5413C510B47F984/alpha/D/
but it fits with 40a .
Just seen the second word of 13a ! How long did that take!
so just 7a to tidy up.

Does this help somewhat: Shown under Demur.
3. transitive and intransitive verb law make legal objection: to admit the facts of an opposing argument, but object that those facts alone are not by themselves adequate to make the case.
If the facts don't fit then there is no legal liability - that's how I read it.

back again -
7a) is Moses Boat
(although that shipbuilder and yard seems more famous for the dory!)
13a) Athenian Bee
(Although many sources suggest that the name Plato is already a nickname!)
40a) Apres coup
(reference seems to be to after the coup - eg coup d'etat - its a bit late .... too late)
30a) as said above - I have gone with demurrant
I find the online source found by shaney supportive, especially the first sentence ...
Demurrer:
A request made to a court, asking it to dismiss a lawsuit on the grounds that no legal claim is asserted.
do not the words - on the grounds that no legal claim is asserted - equate to the phrase ..... 'legal liability'?
presumably the person who makes the demurrer is a demurrant?
... and I think that the definition from Ont-ice on 'demur' is supportive?
..... perhaps it all depends on whether aprs coup is correct!
anyway, I have convinced myself .... until somebody comes up with the right answer!!
