Spots and diet!
10 Answers
Hope someone can help here as I am getting quite distressed about this. I started a low GI diet 3 weeks ago. Seems to be going fine, adapted well to the food (not that I was on an unhealthy diet before hand) been having more lentils, veg, fruit etc. I have cut out caffeine almost altogether and drink mainly green tea and cranberry. Since I started this I have been coming out in large red painful spots, mainly on my shoulders neck and chin. I sometimes suffer from the occasional spot but I am in my late 20's so nothing major. Is this because of the food change? Could it be the green tea? How long will it last?
None contain puss (sorry to be gross at breakfast!) just red and painful.
Please someone tell me that they have suffered the same when switching diet and that this isn't going to last as I can barely look at myself in the mirror at the best of times :o(

just to add it does seem to be completely normal - i've never done the detox thing but the friends of mine that did all had big break outs at first cleared up quite quickly (week or so) and i must say they did all seem better for it afterwards
on a side note you say you gave up caffeine but green tea has caffeine in it... if you really want to give your body a break from the stimulant then maybe stick to the fruit teas / or i quite like just hot water with a slice of lemon in it (i know it doesn't sound very exciting but it is very good for you!)
