can the 'last answer' feature refer to the last answer left by anyone, not yourself .
..i think most people know when they left an answer to a q and don't really need it pointing out to them - i cannot see what use this is to anyone ...
but, if we knew when someone else had added to a post, because the last answer is timed after your own, you can go in and look, rather than wading through them only to find there have been no new posts.
sometimes i know if there have been additions because i vaguely recall the amount of posts from last time, but i shouldn't have to try to memorise the amount of posts on 30-40 questions, and know when they have changed
also
how about making our users name highlighted - but only for us, only visible to us on our computer.
the reason is when there is a post of numerous pages, and you are scrolling through to find your last post, so that you can read new posts and don't reread old posts,
it would help you locate your own post quicker.
i have scrolled too quickly and missed it on occasion.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Hmm, call me a hill-billy but I dont really see how either of these would be of tangible benefit. Firstly, if the last post number/date etc on a Q didnt include your own then you might suspect that yours hadnt been included. If then someone else answers this would be added and then you might think there would be 2 new answers, where in fact there is only one new answer plus your own. Wouldnt that just confuse matters?
Secondly, I have enough trouble typing a blinking answer and reading and posting it, let alone trying to go back and read the darn thing. If it is requisite to find wot I have writ (sic) then I am happy enough to scroll up through the names. Having my name highlighted wouldnt make scrolling easier would it?
Or am I just a churlish boil-brained barnacle?

octavius -youve missed the point on both counts
first -who actually checks the last answer number on the 'questions i've answered' board to see if their post has been missed off?
it comes up immediately after posting on the thread itself, so you know its there!
you also know because that question is listed under 'questions i've answered'!
who checks the number beforehand anyway?
in your profile under 'questions i've answered',it says under each, 'last answer' then a date
that date is when you wrote that answer
my point is,who needs to know this?
most people are aware of when they post, & if they want to know, just open the post & read your answer, which has time &date on it -simple
i suggest that instead of providing when you answered it,why not tell us whether anyone else had added to it AFTER you, giving you a reason to go back & read their response?
its a pain to keep checking a thread in case anyone has responded,to find no-one has
& i don't see how finding 2 new answers, or your own
& 1 new answer confuses anything...
you know you answered at 7.30 because thats when you went on AB, so you know that if it says last answer 8.30 its likely not yours
second point -its not to check what youve written, its so that when you are scrolling through pages of replies, trying to find the last one you read so you can follow the thread, its usually followed by your own response -is it not?- therefore you can find your place without having to reread posts youve already seen while trying to find the next one you haven't
if the post has 153 replies & mine is no. 77, that means ive already read the first 77 replies, but not the next 76
but i don't know my reply is number 77, do i?
so, i have to find it so i can read the other 76.
if my name was highlighted, i could

Joko, thank you for the brief clarification.
Forgive me for being confused, but I only ever go into Threads I am involved in in which the last answer that has been posted is the last answer, regardless of who posted it. Perhaps if you used this tab you would be less inconvenienced.
Secondly. If a thread had 153 posts I wouldnt want to scroll through it anyway. However, if you feel the need to do so and the Ed agrees, then maybe they can make it so.
