Global Links with GM and MM

TWTWTW - and here we are once again ready to quess and double guess the LINK WORDS. Steff (aka seekeerz), the Wizard(ess) of Oz has already set the scene for the KM Game and this is driven by the Herculis Crossword of the DT. This site will lie dormant until the Link Words become known tomorrow about 7.30am and predictions will be taken until 3.00am on Monday morning when the DT releases its secrets.
Steff will then process the scores singlehandedly, without grace or favour and certainly without complaint.
Good on ya! Always got a bright smile and a spring in her step (Isn't imagination a wonderful thing).
The UK version of the game is the MM LINKS GAME and is (AB) home-grown and is far more "regulated". Kick off is at 9.00am sharp at a site posted at 8.45am by our current Champion Barbara (aka rogerrabbit). The words to be linked are chosen by Barbara - as are their links.
Next month's game will be set by the new Champion, who will be the top scorer over the four rounds played out over the month of February.
The MM game will close at 7.00 pm (by yours truly) when Barbara's solutions will be disclosed, the high scorers praised and those still with "no points" will be encouraged to "try harder".
Since everyone knows where and when the MM Link Words will be posted, there is a mad rush for the early "double pointer" kills. The only stiff upper lip you'll see will match the black eye and bruised shins!
I strongly advise that you all try to get in early with predictions driven by your first instinct. Your bid for fame and the right to chose the words over the next month will depend on a good performance tomorrow just after 9.00
As usual, use the space below as a scribble pad! :o)

crofter - I've just put a request on the KM thread which may put the cat amongst the proverbial - I've requested a change to one of my answers [simple fact - I didn't like it - I know, typical woman!!!] so I would appreciate a ruling on that please
thanks crofter, I guess that's true, but I didn't want to start a precident, it would make scoring a little tricky - oh dear, this gets worse by the minute - I'd better pipe down - going out to sleep on the lawn under the sprinkler tonight - anybody want to swap, I'd settle for snow any day ?? night all, Steff
Thanks for the suggestion slaney to increase the MM word length from (4 - 8) to (3 - 10) to avoid confusion.
Two points occur to me. Kate sets the link words in the KM game - she always will! Further she will never conform to any rule on word length that we propose. So changing the rule to (3 - 10) will again only apply to the MM Game.
Secondly, it is proving difficult to guess the links on our MM game when the words are of length (4 - 8). Increasing the range to (3 -10) will things even harder, because there will be many more options.
Thirdly, we play the MM Game for the right to set the words every week for a month. Behind the scenes, Barbara is a excited as a kid with a new bike. Her task is made all the more easier if she is working with tightly defined limits.
I am allowed to play the KM game, in which I am looking for consistency on my part from one week to the next and I am always looking for the perfect score of 4/4.
I hope this makes things clearer as to where we are and why we apply the word length rule. Opinions on this question are always welcome.

HI crofter
Dragged off by the children to get a new computer, and as I left realised the flaw in my suggestion of the 3-10 rule ..as you say to make them (MM and KM) the same, one would need to have no word limit .
The reason I made the suggestion was that I ,and others, got confused and put down words of the wrong length, and had to be chased up --which is time consuming for you .
I wanted to save you trouble, not add to it ; so obviously if it is easier to keep to a word limit, I am happy to accept that.
PS Being shot down is easier second time round!

slaneyI'd never shoot you down just like that. I know your heart's in the right place. I listen to your suggestion, weigh up the pros and cons and follow through the implications, take a rational view of the overall picture - THEN I reach for the blunderbus!
As for Dustybun , my pram (also known as a blunderbus in certain parts of the UK) is now devoid of playthings. I am left with a comfort blanket, a wet nappy and a grubby dummy. No-one likes a cry baby!
After five days of being (more or less) serious I welcome the crazy weekends with like-minded people to spark off from!

PS Half the fun is when eveything goes pear-shaped and I have to chase people to correct their answers. Last week some even made up their own link words!
The "Game" is all about friendship and having a laugh and if it goes wrong--then what does it matter? It certainly makes for more giggles and banter.
I have enjoyed every minute of it.
:O)) Barbara

slaney<\b> Don't you dare start doing anything differently from your previous antics - you fit in with this present crowd like hand in glove! (or fist in gauntlet?)
pauline I would just LOVE to give you 4/4, but "computer says NO"! When YOU set the Link Words, we'll throw away the Rule Book (alt. spelling ROOL BUKE)
