Can anyone suggest an independent restaurant in Nottingham, not part of any chain, where the food is good and portions not too small, and where it is relaxed and the customers are not crammed in cheek-by-jowl at far too small tables ?

World Service is lovely. Service is great. Staff are attentive without being too in your face. food delicious, ambience fab. never had a bad experience there but it is popular so you do need to book.

Alternartively try Saltwater and Santa Fe, both of which you can find in The Cornerhouse, opposite the Theatre Royal.

Bon appetit!

Thank you for the advice, Sausagegirl. Sadly, it came after my visit to Nottingham but I will file it for any future visits there.
