Bluebell - there are several websites devoted to collective nouns, and the book An Exaltation of Larks. They list some very obscure ones indeed!

Thank you paddywak...I liked your first answer!! I had actually tried a number of sites, but numerous ones came up with animals. I did eventually find an obscure reference to a Drunkship of Lanterns. Many thanks too to Quizmonkey. for your suggestion I have just ordered the paperback by James Lipton from Amazon.
