questioning a raise

I process the salaries in my work, and discovered that someone who was on the same level as quite a few of us has had an increase to her salary. However, it seems that she has only had an increase because her job has now become a job share.
Also, I'm not boasting but, my job in finance (salaries; book-keeping; sending out large sums of money) has much more responsibility than an administration assistant!
My boss has suggested that I write to our HR dept and voice my concerns - but I don't know where to start.
Anyone got any suggestions?

Ask if your job could be re-evaluated as you feel the level of expertise required is not reflected in your salary.

Surely as part of your responsibility in dealing with salaries is not to use the information you can get from this for your own benefit?

Were you happy with you job and salary before you knew about the other person's pay rise?

Does your company have a set structure for appraising employees work and increasing salary accordingly? This might be the best forum for this conversatiom I would focus on your contribution rather than someone else's recent increase.
