MM Links Solutions December 2007 [Week 3]
8 Answers
This third week of the reign of Queen Kay of the Crossed Fingers appeared on site according to schedule totally unaided. Congratulations Queen Kay on mastering the fine art of launching the game. The next two weeks should be a doddle.
As for this week's words, I can now reveal that Queen Kay's chosen Link Words were:
FOOLS gold
SIGNET ring
French LEAVE
MOTHER hen
There were lots of options open to you on those, so who got the points?

Nevertheless, all four links were matched within 40 minutes.
Appropriately, the first to go was FRENCH LEAVE with entrant 2 slaney picking up 2 points. No bonuses for anyone else on that one and it only gained two more matches all weekend.
At 9:05, both ulysses100 and devadiva threw a 'Rocky Horror' with FOOLS GOLD and earned two points each. This didn't fool many of you and was later matched by 8 further entrants.
MOTHER HEN fell to freebi 2 5 minutes later for 2 points and four others were similarly fussed over by their mothers and accordingly picked up a single point for the same match.
The last link, SIGNET RING, was snapped up at 9:40 by Eiggam (2 points) and never matched again thereafter. Does nobody wear signet rings these days?
With so few scorers it was not surprising to find only 3 double-hitters gaining 2 points each riscagirl, BigMac & patchett *** Well Done to You ***
It was therefore a difficult task to select a 'Hot Shot of the Week'. No-one stands out as a 'Big Hitter' but the distinction should go to the only competitor (out of 46) to match Queen Kay's choice of SIGNET RING. I therefore declare Eiggam 'HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK'
*** CHEERS ALL ROUND ***

League Table (at the mid-point of this 5-week month)
7 points: paulineward
6 points: BigMac
5 points: Shazza & slaney
4 points: lysander, patchett & Grenmus
There is then a trailing pack of five on 3 points, ten on 2 points and twelve on 1 point
So, paulineward narrowly holds onto her lead despite her enforced late entry depriving her of a chance of any bonus points. BigMac is taking the steady approach of 2 point each week and with 10 others close on their heels, it is anybody's guess what will happen in the last two weeks.
Next week crofter should be back in the scoring seat and overseeing the shrubbery. Everyone was well behaved this weekend and so I will be handing back a clean and tidy garden along with the abacus. Queen Kay will be back again at the same time in the same place next week so until then: HAPPY LINKING.

Hi Pauline, I hope you had a good weekend. 1 point for me this week and 0 for Jim. So the cold is still affecting our brains. :-) We are in the middle of a snow storm here 25cm forecast for Halifax, then the temperature is set to rise to double figures tomorrow, followed by freezing rain Tuesday. :-/ sounds like fun (I don't think).
thank you Kay and gen2 for giving me another opportunity to score a big fat nil!
Welcome back Pauline - hope your weekend was good but it was awful bloomin' quiet in the shrubbery. We were all tucked up and asleep before midnight!
Well done all the scorers and Eiggam for being hot shot of the week. Eiggam sounds sort of big and vikingish. On the other hand Maggie doesn't!!!! :0)
