MM Links Solutions December 2007 [Week 4]
16 Answers
The posting of the fourth and final week of the reign of Queen Kay the Capable appeared once again according to schedule totally unaided. Those ABers not on Christmas jaunts, have atempted to guess her links and are anxious to know the results.
So, for this week's words, I can now reveal that Queen Kay's chosen Links were:
sweet CHARITY
head LAMP
POLE star
sky LARK
Once more, there were lots of options open to you on those, so who were the lucky ones who earned the points?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.The Christmas Holidays and other commitments have meant that slightly fewer of you participated this weekend and the entries were more spread out. Psychic Pauline (a Double Decker?) exploded from the shrubbery at 9:01 and failed to connect with any of Queen Kay's words - so has she lost her lead? Once again all four links were found in under an hour (three of them in three minutes!) but nobody at all matched more than one link!
The very first out of the shrubbery (even beating pauline) was freebi 2 who matched SKY LARK for 2 points and within the two-minute window, FoxLee also chose it for 2 points.
At 9:02, slaney went with SWEET CHARITY for two points. Not an easy one and only matched by one other player - Probably a generation thing.
At 9:03, wickedtongue opted for HEAD LAMP for 2 points - a combination that nobody else preferred.
The last link lasted until 9:51 when kettledrum chanced her arm with POLE STAR (2 points).
As previosly stated, there were no multiple hitters this week and the few single points there were, were picked up by patchett, Ont-ice (Mrs), Prescott & jan1956
Yet again I have had a difficult task chosing the 'Hot Shot of the Week' so this week I have gone for the speed with which the first link fell. I therefore declare freebi 2 is 'Hot Shot of the Week' *** Well Done *** and *** CHEERS ALL ROUND ***
So did pauline keep her lead, was she matched, or even overtaken?

League Table - Final Positions for December
7 points: paulineward & slaney
6 points: BigMac
5 points: Shazza & patchett
4 points: Grenmus, lysander, freebi 2 & FoxLee
I was therefore left with a dilemma as to how to resolve a tie. For that, I went back through the posts to over a year ago when ShamrockBlue and crofter formulated the rules for this game. The first criteron for resolving a tie was to be the 'Big Hitter' - who had the highest single score on any week in the month?
slaney scored 2, 1, 2, 2
paulineward = 2, 4, 1, 0
So, on the basis of being the 'Big Hitter', I declare paulineward has the claim to the throne for January 2008 and duly crown her Queen Pauline the Psychic. *** LOTS MORE CHEERS ALL ROUND ***
And of course we must also thank the outgoing Queen Kay for setting the links and for eventually beating her computer into submission. *** WELL DONE KAY ***
Next week there will be no MM Links game as we all take a seasonal break. Here's wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you all again back for the usual scrabble for points in January.

Many thanks gen2 for a presentation worthy of the mighty krophta himself, and thanks Queen Kay for an interesting month ... although I think I failed to match any of your links!!
and wow! . well done Pauline .. January could be very interesting,?? although I hold little hope of reading the mind of another laydeee setter!!!
So pleased to read your news ChrisHewat .. Christmas should be magical for you and yours.

Thanks Queen Kay the Capable for all those links, even though my attempt fizzled out this week like a damp squib. Thanks too to Crofter and Gen 2. for all that behind the scenes stuff and scoring.
Congrats. Pauline and commiserations Slaney - so near and yet so far. What will the shrubbery be like in January - Is it big enough to contain Perilous Pauline, Queen of the big hitters?

Sorry for the extended absence. I had an urgent family matter to attend to after returning from a business trip to Athens (via Amsterdam and Paris!). The matter has not been fully resolved but has been greatly improved.
I "think" I am looking forward to working with Mystic Meg. She will sit at her keyboard at 8.45 on the first Saturday in 2008 and "transmit" her words by "extra-century perception".
Until then, all of you have a great time over the festive season and "happy linking" to ABers near and far!

Sorry I'm late in replying but been to "9 lessons and Carols" in my local church then "Server not found for the last hour. Thank goodness that didn't happen again on Saturday!!!
Congratulations Pauline on your win. Still don't know how you guessed all my themes>
Thank you to everyone who has enjoyed my words and has participated but the biggest thanks goes to Crofter for teaching me how to cut and paste and always being in the background in case things went wrong, and Gen2 who has helped me for the last 2 weeks and has only been a phone call away.
I've really enjoyed thinking up the links and words and hope Pauline enjoys it as much ,so I now go back to being a commoner and hand my crown to Pauline, with love. Kayxx
