escort earth problem

my escort s reg 1998 cut out and now wont start when i try to kick it in it turns over but wont start and the dash lights are flashing on and off and the rev needle is jumping about i had an auto electrician out and they told me it was the fuse box but replaced it today and still have the same problem and wen i turn the key i can hear the fuel pump start but it doesnt go off as it should after a few seconds ive also been told i have a earth problem how can i cure this??

running a new earth strap from your battery to the engine block should present you with no problems. You could then limbo from the block back to the body at a suitable point like a top shock mount.

I would sort the earthing issue before tackling the rest.

ok eddie do i strap the earth from the positive or negative on the battery then to the body?? what sort of wire do i use?? thanks..do you have an email address could do with some help thanks

This is a Mini earth strap, but a common car like yours should be easy to find an earth strap for.
There is a company in Peterborough called Millfield Autos' who sell just the thing that you are after.

ive also been told it can be the immobiliser??been told so many things now but maybe is it worth looking at??
