186000 miles a second
Get a calculator but from memory it's around 8 minutes (480 seconds)

The distance between the earth and the sun is 93,000,000 miles.
The time it takes light to travel this distance is 93,000,000
miles/186,000 miles/sec or 500 seconds. Hence the time is 500sec/60 or 8.333 minutes.

I got my calculator out and can confirm that it took you less time to answer my query than it takes for light from the Sun to reach Earth.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
