Nosy Neighbours - Please help

We have lived in our house for over two years now.
I have a problem which is driving me mad.
My neighbours constantly watch me from the windows.
If I go out, my husband go out, we have guests over, have a parcel delivered. They just watch.
It's driving me crazy and makes me feel down.
Its very embarrasing especially when we have friends over.
My neighbours live in a very big, joint family but its mainly the women and kids who watch from the windows.
I have tried to talk to them (as we were friends before) but they dont really listen.
I'm just so fed up I feel like moving but I cant coz I have a mortgage.
I appreciate any advice and thanks in advance
(P.S. I cant even wear english party clothes (short dresses) anymore coz they just stare, stare and stare)

Yeah, we were friends before when I moved to the area.
It was really nice to have neighbours who became friends too.
But this problem is just too much for me to handle.
I cant write a letter to them coz they dont read English.

If you are very clever, have a staged row with your partnet and involve a knife and ketchup.

I was thinking about getting a line of hubby's mates to do moonies from the upstairs window!

I just dont think they have ever felt the need to learn English as they are always at home and never really go anywhere.
I work and have lots of friends who come to my house who are not neccesarly from the same community as me and I think they find that very strange.
They are not used to seeing women working or mixing with people from different races.

Stand at your window, or outside, and take pictures of them doing this staring stuff.

Hmmmm I never thought about taking pictures!
Do you think that would scare them?
Would it be like for evidence against harassment?

It sounds to me that these people lead a very dull life and need outsiders to keep them amused. If they can't handle seeing people of other races around then they are just plain ignorant. I would just ignore them. Its not as if they are pillars of the community and have a say on what goes on around your area.

They are the ones who need to come out of the Dark Ages and into the 21st C.

In other words they are from a different culture,perhaps they are learning by watching ect as the above stated why not give them something to look at !!

I wil try and ignore them.
I just have been so upset about it all.
The other day I was in such a rush to move the car from outside the house coz I felt like they were watching me that I crashed the rear of the car.
I just feel so panicky outside my house. I rush to go in or out the house.

You do not say what culture they are. In some Asian cultures the women are not allowed to leave the house unless with a male relative. I imagine that must be really difficult. Maybe they are envious of your freedom and independence. My advise is.....buy some sort of sweets or food and take them round as a new year gift. While you are there try to explain how you feel. They probably have no idea they are offending you. If this doesn't work try your local Neighbourhood liaison officer with the police. Unless they are being abusive there is probably nothing they can do but they may be able to find someone else who can explain your point of view in their language. It is this sort of niggle which turns into racist nightmares. Incidentally, my neighbour used to sit on her front lawn but she was just lonely and sad. I am of Indian origin and they are Pakistani Muslim.
I have already tried to explain to them how I feel but I dont think they really understand that what they are doing is wrong.
Or they do understand and just cant help themseves but stare.
I have always tried to respect them when I used to go to there house by wearing full sleeveed clothes but I feel that are not respecting me by not understanding how I feel.

Go with Bewlay - give them something to stare at. If you want to wear your short dresses or whatever, then go ahead and wear them - it's a free country, after all.

Another ploy (but it takes a bit of courage) is to stand and stare right back at them. Don't flinch and don't be the first to avert your gaze. Or you could wave at them very obviously. Better still, get your friends and family to do the same when they come to visit.

Ah muslims, it says it all really. Unlike Hindus and Sikhs, your average muslim can not be reasoned with. They have no common sense or intelligence.

I just thinks its a bit crazy coz when it comes to claiming benefits they know everything about England, but when it comes to mixing in society its like "Oh, nooooo You cant do that! You cant learn English, or English manners or have English friends, or have a job or drive or wear dresses or go out late. But its ok to claim benefits. What is that about?
