MM & KM Links February 2008 [Week 2]
112 Answers
It is week two already in the reign of King Fordward. Last week he brought a breath of outdoor fresh air and pleased many of you who got (at least partially) on his wavelength. Will the same players be able to tune in again this week? or will he change tack and appeal more to those who previously scored zero?
You know how it is sometimes when you look back through old photo-albums and the images conjure up thoughts and associations. Last week I came across some pictures taken on our honeymoon to snowy Iceland - no digital imaging in those days, just a compact camera to record the sights. I remember visiting the cathedral at Sklholt (the one with the famous mural) where a string quartet were performing a concert of chamber music. In the collection plate at the exit I spotted a strange coin - a copper nickel, presumably deposited by an American tourist. Now - will King Fordward's words conjure up appropriate associations in your mind? Find out tomorrow.

MM was Michael Mepham (Kate's Father)
When he died suddenly, the links in the Telegraph stopped we continued the game setting the links ourselves. Kate then took over her father's job of setting the Telegrapg GK crossword and the links were resumed. That meant that the old game was revived as the KM Links and this one continued in memory of Michael Mepham.
Hope you can follow that?

Oh dear x-ray...let me see if I am sober enough!
Kate Mepham is the daughter of Michael Mepham.
Originally he complied the crossword, with the links, but unfortunately died suddenly just after we had devised the MM links game....guessing his links.
His daughter took over the crossword shortly after and there were no links originally with hers.
So in his honour we decided one of us would set the MM links as tribute too the pleasure he had given us over the years.
Then a few weeks later Kate 'linked' hers as did her Father..so as we had already set a game in motion we decided to run the two alongside each other. Keeping his name and tribute going.
Does that make sense???
