Can anyone tell me if there are eight continents as with all my searching I can only find seven .Thanks for any help.

on my quiz sheet it say's name the eight continents in the world.

Generally 7 - North America, South America, Antarctica, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia - but some references name Oceania also - making 8 in total

Just checked my particular reference book - one of many and according to that there are 8 - I reckon it depends on how you define a continent. So we stick with 8.

Don't suppose you managed to get the name of the reference book as well did you smouse?It would help, as Google seems to think there are 7.

I did also mention the cocktail recipe as I cant find a definite answer but she is going down the judges decision is final route and as she says its for a good cause so guess we have to go with that.
I have said in an email and will say on here that she needs to make sure her questions are a bit more clear cut as we had similar problems with the last quiz

I always thought Atlantis was known as the eighth continent
- mind you that was probably from a film like Journey to the Centre of Earth so I wouldn't guarantee its accuracy!

Think Junkman is correct that Alantis is the 8th continent. I found out that it was a legendary island described by Plato as a center of civilization that was engufed by the sea. The inhabitants were known as Atlantides.
