hi

when that's pressed it does the same,my power settings are ALL set for OFF. i can only stop
it by holding in the button on the tower which shuts the power
off without closing down the comp as it should, there's no malware or viruses on it
the comp is an - asus A1 series. graphics- radeon prophet 6200. system mechanic

shut-down restart facility is obtained by changing the sleep button on my logitec blue tooth divo keyboard options.it might be link to the asus function i don't know about that
as for the settings Neil, under advance power controls , it's all set to shut down not restart / stand by / or hibernate, thats why i can't understand what's wrong
cheers fellas

hi ac
i tried the task manager shut down it worked first time but on trying it again it didn't and hasn't done when i tried it a further 6 times. the shut down button on screen nor the comp button on the tower does it either,
i have to catch it restarting at quickly switch off at mains to shut it off
could a re-install of the asus chipset fix it ??

shutdown.exe is a 19kb file (not a folder) in the system32 folder the -s tells it what to do ... restart shutdown etc
so double clicking it won't do anything ....
you can either run the command from the run option ... or open a comand prompt and run it from there
but use the whole line
C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe -s
