MM and KM Links December 2008 [Week 1]

Good Evening AB Linkers, across the Globe!

Welcome to this very first week in the reign of Lady Slaney, who should appear in person tomorrow! Several of you would agree that slaney is a well known name on AnswerBank, who has helped many people out by answering the most obscure of cryptic clues. Yet she remains somewhat mysterious to such an extent that she is sometimes addressed on AnswerBank as Mr Slaney! I know that she is well suited to the title Lady! Just how much she will reveal will be up to her, but I would like to be among the first to wish her "Happy Birthday" for tomorrow.

This evening, I shall be the Quiz Master at the Cricket Club, where I have 40 questions set with a picture round worth another 10 points. Five of my questions are on anagrams of famous names ~ such as �Ex-actor (6,4) from ERODE LIVER� = OLIVER REED. The first is a singer (5,6) from MORMON IDEAS? My last one is (working backwards) an anagram (6,5) of DAVID GINOLA!

I shall have to get to bed not too late and drink not too much because, after I keep an eye open on tomorrow�s launch of MM Links, we�re off to Wetherby for son, Daniel�s wedding to Laura. The wedding will be on Sunday and after great merriment, we shall sleep over at Wetherby and return to the croft on Monday. In our absence, my good friend gen2 has agreed to do the honours and carry out the scoring procedure for me.

As far as you are concerned, it should be business as usual; the posting should open at 8.45am and the four words to be linked should be declared at 9.00am for a brand new game. Of course, it is also a brand new start for the international version of this same game which is called KM Links and kicks off at an earlier time. As far as I am aware, the regular organiser from Oz, seekeerz, is back in business to organise results for KM Links. Why not chance your arm at both Link Games? They remain open for most of the weekend and all entries are scored and entered on to master scoreboards.

crofter there is a very good Chinese restaurant on the first floor of a building in the centre of Wetherby if you are feeling a little peckish.

Yes not too bad. Granddaughter Evie is realy poorly with a bug which is sweeping through school. 9 off in her class. She has had really bad headaches and high temp and aching all over.
Hope you met Ali and had a good time.

New addition is so far so good...

Just to let you all know...my daughter was asked to take a kitten in this week. It had been abandoned, and the vet reckons it is only about 4 weeks old...it is being pampered rotten, fed around the clock as per vet's instruction and each day is a day closer to it surviving!

Daren't fetch her into the shrubbery yet!

I think the closeness of Christmas is getting to me a bit. Can't seem to get focused at the moment.!!!
Won't go shopping at weekend so must make a special effort to do something on Monday!!!!
