In 1991 which Last of the Summer Wine Character was
accused of creating a bad image for elderly people. Compo is the obvious answer but I can't prove it . Any of the three scallys, as well as Howard or Marina or Norah Batty (god rest her) could fit the bill, it depends what angle the article was coming from. I have depleted my ideas... any suggestions. Thanks

No I can t and there are way too many possibilities........
I have the feeling that it was a "one off" character, but like dr pop I cannot be sure.
I shall go and investigate, and try and get back to you if I find anything.

Hey Mr Veritas (very sorry to interrupt your thread, on the road) - do ya have any news about Mr. Pickle? Am I right in thinking you are his neighbour? I am wondering if he is out of hospital. Thanks for reply. x

Hello there Mrs C,and thank you for asking.
Pickle is at present still in Woolands, the Hastings Community Mental Healh Centre,as an inpatient.
He is receiving good care, and is still being assessed(short of staff over Christmas).
They have put him on an extra med,and are trying to get him Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Counselling(both in short supply on the NHS).
He may be in for up to another 12 weeks, and sadly if no CBT or Counselling is fortcoming he will be dischraged.
There isn't much "outside" help available,so we wait with quite a bit of worry.
I will let him know that you were asking after him.
Thank you very much Mr Veritas. Please do tell Mr Pickle I am asking after him, and give him my best regards. I hope he is soon feeling much better.

Thanks again buddy. x
And me also want you back on board in a picklexx

I am also feeling sorry for Mr Pickle but this is the third question I have had hijacked in this way. You people are not the quizsetters by any chance... otherwise why not contact each other directly

Apologies on the road, I have been waiting to see a post from Mr Veritas and trying to "catch" him on AB, so that I could ask about Mr Pickle. I don't know how to contact Mr Veritas directly.

Sincerely sorry if it has upset you.

How rude of people asking about someones wellbeing on a question about a television show which has old men towing each other down a hill in an armchair!

Shame on you

I am not upset, I just wondered if it was a ploy by the quizsetters to give the impression the question had already been answered.People are bound to be less inclined to look ,if they think the question may have already been answered.
This is not paranoia on my part regarding the quiz other ABers have commented on the Northern Echo quiz questions either being blocked at source or wrong answers being given. Check with rolo44 for one..It's a tough quiz that greatly values its 25 year heritage and I think they believe the net devalues its difficulty
Anyway I said I feel sorry for Mr.pickles even though I don't know him and I wasn't being disingenous

Hello again on the road.

I must admit (and I'm showing how thick I am here) - as the question was in Media/TV, I didn't realise you were looking for an answer to a quiz/puzzle.

I thought it was just an ordinary TV question, although the title of the question did baffle me a wee bit.
I didn't realise it was a quiz question either until I googled the question.

Perhaps quiz questions should stay in the quiz section.
Question of 2009 so far for sheer surrealism.

Thank you all and Happy new year to everyone.
Mrs Chappie funny you should say that because in the past I have been advised to ask my questions in the appropriate sections i.e sport, music , film + tv etc and if my memory serves me well one of those directives came from "The Management". How is that for surreal I've managed to incorporate Hale and Pace and Bob Dylan Lyrics in the same sentence !!!
Just while I'm here, any help would be appreciated ... its a damn hard quiz http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/leisure/super brain/quiz/ There are 300 pretty tough questions
Hi again on the road.

Hey buddy, I don't doubt for one minute that you've been advised to post in the appropriate sections from the "Management".

As I've mentioned, it was just me being thick! Honestly, If I had realised it was a Q & P question, I wouldn't have interrupted, as I know that can be irritating for folk.

Hope there are no hard feelings buddy. I am now gonna go and have a look at the questions, and see if there's anything I can help with.
Oh heck, I'm afraid this is all I could come up with ....

Pop Music Section:

11. Rita was the name of the Beatles lovely meter maid.

33. The song title is Im a Boy, by The Who.

38. The couples daughter was born at 5.20 am.

I didn't realise just how little I know. [:o(

Best of luck with it, OTR. x
