This is one of my last two questions.
"Take the first and surname of a character played by a veteran actor in a TV series set in the 1920s, add to the front of the surname a certain three letters that make part of the name of a well known computer & you arrive at the name of a character played by this actor in a later TV series. what is the first & surname of this later character?"

Have seen this as Jack Halford. James Bolam played Jack Ford in When the Boat comes In and he plays Jack Halford in New Tricks. Think it must be right but cant see where the HAL fits in with a well known computer
