Not saying thank you

Sorry to all you who have complained about me not thanking you, or replying, these are all new to me and as I am a pensioner not very technically minded and have no one to help me, it took me about two months to get into the web site. I usually thank people when I post the question but will try harder in future, your help is very much appreciated.

When putting an answer I often look back to see if it gets acknowledged (or even star rated!). That way you at least know that the the asker has seen it. It is quite disappointing when you take the trouble to answer and there is no acknowledgement at all (and I for one sometimes wonder why I bothered).
If you dont want to give individual star ratings, just a quick Thank you message after the replies is appreciated.

I think it's great wagonwheel that you have attempted to keep up with technology at such a late age in life.

wagonwheel, please don't use being a pensioner as an excuse for not saying thankyou. It drives me mad.
I rarely look back to see if thanks are given although sometimes I do for an interesting or particularly tricky question.
This is the AnswerBank so it should go without saying that you're pleased to receive an answer whether it's right or wrong.

Ok. I put my hands up and say I was one of the ones who was a bit peeved that wagon wheel was not acknowledging answers given.
Now it has all been explained we can start with a clean sheet again, so fire away wagon wheel, here to help, but also would sometimes like a bit of help in return if you are able to.

I'm 67 so I may get to talk to my grandparents sooner rather than later.I just meant age shouldn't be used as an excuse for being slow to learn things. wagonwheel is a good egg and why should he be apologising for not saying thankyou. Carry on asking wagonwheel. I'll look out for you. and lakitu and mamyalynne too for their silly little replies hat make me laugh.
Why do you want stars. Are they bonus points. There are a few who regularly qualify like squarebear and smouse who probably have earned enough to own AB between them.

I think Tallulah has been misunderstood. If you read her answer again, she seems to be saying that there is no need to apologise. And that there is no need to say Thank You in the first place, as we are all happy to help.
I personally like a Thank You though.

If I misconstrued your answer, Tallulah, then I sincerely apologise to you. I'd be really quite upset if someone berated my Gran for not knowing about technology, hence my response.

This is a brave thing to post wagonwheel . I must admit that I agree with grasscarp - I try to monitor any answers I give in case there is a follow up question, and a quick "Thankyou" post gives closure and enables me to close one of the dozen or so tabs that I have open at any one time. By the way - you've lost the protection of the green highlighting now !!

Wow another pensioner - join the silver surfers club wagonwheel. From what I gather there are more of us oldies than the rest put together. We'll be having a trade union next. Join in the fun, and don't let them get you down - if you're anything like me you learn to grow an extra skin pretty quickly. Enjoy!!
